STCC - The Game

SimBin Studios and STCC AB has joined forces and announced that STCC- THE GAME for PC covering the Swedish Touring Car Champion ship season of 2008 will be released this year.

The game will be made available as a stand alone game including RACE 07 and as an expansion pack for RACE 07 owners.

“To recreate the tracks where I have raced in my previous career as a race driver is a dream come true especially since I still find them very entertaining after several seasons of international racing”, said Henrik Roos, CEO SimBin Studios. 
“To be able to do it in a close cooperation with STCC and their well established concept makes it even better”, added Roos.

During this spring SimBin has been on tour visiting all tracks and test sessions gathering reference material. The game is currently in full production with additional reference capturing at Knutstorp Ring this weekend at the STCC premiere.

“STCC is going to be an all-year-around experience where we finally will be able to drive on our STCC tracks with the teams participating. The cooperation with SimBin that we regard as one of the best racing game developers in the world ensures that the virtual counter part will be very close to driving in STCC for real”, said Bob Huzell, CEO at STCC AB.

RACE 07 Official Patch Released

Simbin have released patch V1.0.0.9 for RACE 07. The main feature of this new patch is the addition of rolling starts.

The patch includes:

• Enabled Rolling Starts. This gives the option to choose between rolling or standing start in 1 race format. Choosing 2 race format the first race will be rolling while the second will be standing.
• Fixed timing on dual core processors (flicker fix on some computers).
• Cleaner game exit for non supported video cards.
• Fixed bug where player was stuck in menu when qualify ran out.
• Added re-load custom skin feature.
• Custom skinned cars are now using the correct cameras.
• Fixed lap times in timing screen (right click on driver).
• Fixed low fuel icon. Icon now gets displayed earlier. The color code has changed from yellow to red.
• Fixed difficulty setting which was previously shared between game modes. Each game mode has its own setting now.
• Fixed driving aids being switched off in championship mode.
• Fixed driving aids on/off issues.
• Tighter cutting rules for Magny Cours.
• Fixed cutting rule problem in Valencia National.
• Fixed collision on Porto around pit area.
• New talent files (driver AI related) for Caterham, F3000, FBMW, Mini and Radical classes which have lead to a wider spread in Qualify. F3000 drivers have improved in wet conditions.
• AI wet speed has been tweaked for better consistency between tracks.
• General AI speed tweaks for better consistency against player.

RACE 07 Review

Gamespot have reviewed RACE 07 - The WTCC Game for the PC and have giving the game an 8.0.

"Swedish development studio SimBin may be a small independent developer, but it has enjoyed a prolific rise to the top of the PC racing simulation market. To build on the success of its first outing, GTR, the studio enlisted the support of the World Touring Car Championship and created RACE: The WTCC Game, winning over critics and customers in the process. The sequel, RACE 07, expands the game even further, with new racing classes, such as Formula 3000, Radical sports cars, and even Minis. While the game is fundamentally similar to the previous game, particularly in the dated graphics engine, these new racing classes add considerably more depth to an already impressive package."
