Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Review

rheader_gt5prologue

Ryan Davis from Giantbomb.com has reviewed Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and awarded the game 3 out of 5 stars.

The things about Polyphony Digital’s driving simulation series that have kept me at bay over the years–the self-serious tone, the unapologetic driving model–seem to have been softened up a little bit with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, at least enough to allow me to appreciate the painstaking detail that goes into making what is essentially a car commercial in motion. As a taste of what the full version of Gran Turismo 5 will offer, GT5 Prologue is successful–I’m now more excited about the release of Gran Turismo 5 than I’ve been for any other Gran Turismo release. The thing is, Sony’s charging $39.99 for what is essentially an elaborate demo. As pretty as everything in GT5 Prologue is, there’s just not a whole lot to it.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Review

ss_preview_top_05_jpg

Eurogamer.net have posted a review for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Doing things in high definition takes longer. We all know that. The average car in Gran Turismo 4 was made up of over 4,000 polygons. The figure for GT5 Prologue is meant to be higher than 200,000. Being pretty goes a long way, but with 71 cars and just six tracks (High Speed Ring, Daytona, Fuji Speedway, Eiger Nordwand from Gran Turismo HD Concept, Suzuka Circuit and a section of central London), it will have to go a very long way, right? That's not a lot of content, even when you factor in a second variation of each track. GT4 had 721 cars. GT5 Prologue launches in Europe with 71. We may be 11 million polygons ahead, but we're 650 cars behind.

Burnout Paradise - Review

Jeff Gerstmann; one of the best games reviewers in the industry who was unceremoniously sacked from gamespot.com last December for "unknown reasons" (use google to find out why) has this week launched a new game site www.giantbomb.com along with fellow ex-gamespot editors, Ryan Davis and Alex Navarro.

One of the first reviews on www.giantbomb.com is for Burnout Paradise. Burnout being a arcade game is not usually a game I would feature on Motorsportgaming.com but I am going to make an exception as I have it, and it is great!

RACE 07 Review

Gamespot have reviewed RACE 07 - The WTCC Game for the PC and have giving the game an 8.0.

"Swedish development studio SimBin may be a small independent developer, but it has enjoyed a prolific rise to the top of the PC racing simulation market. To build on the success of its first outing, GTR, the studio enlisted the support of the World Touring Car Championship and created RACE: The WTCC Game, winning over critics and customers in the process. The sequel, RACE 07, expands the game even further, with new racing classes, such as Formula 3000, Radical sports cars, and even Minis. While the game is fundamentally similar to the previous game, particularly in the dated graphics engine, these new racing classes add considerably more depth to an already impressive package."

Project Gotham Racing 4 Review

Project Gotham 4 has been reviewed and awarded a 9 out of 10 by Eurogamer.net

"Appropriately enough for a game that introduces motorbikes, PGR4 restores balance to a series that was beginning to wobble. PGR3 wasn't sure whether to be a fast racer or a game of technical driving. With PGR4, Bizarre Creations was sure it could do both, and so it proves."

Moto GP 07 Review

photodl_380286

Gamespot have reviewed Moto GP 07 for the Xbox 360. They have awarded the game 7.5 / 10.

"Ever since the burgeoning days of Xbox Live, there's been a MotoGP game to play. Long-time fans of THQ's two-wheeled racing series will remember that a fully playable demo of the game came packaged with the original Xbox Live kit. Since then, the series has built its reputation on its attractive graphics, challenging handling, and some of the best online racing around. With MotoGP 07, THQ and developer Climax have created another challenging and fun game. It isn't a massive leap forward from last year's MotoGP 06, but it will still please long-time fans of the series."
