No More DLC for Project Gotham Racing 4

UH140_PGR4

Bizarre Creations have announced there will be no new DLC for Project Gotham Racing 4 in the foreseeable future and they have now handed over support to Microsoft. Earlier this year Bizarre Creations was acquired by Activision.

Ben Wand, Bizarre's Community Manager recently posted on the PGR 4 forums:

"Bizarre Creations won't be adding anything more to PGR4 in the future," he wrote. "We've completed the hand-over to Microsoft, so any further add-ons will come from them and not us I'm afraid."

Race Driver GRID First Impressions

grid_wip_logo_on_whitesmaller

The guys over at Eurogamer.net have had a hands on experience with Race Driver GRID and talk about  a new feature called "Flashback" which allows you to undo driving errors which may otherwise have been unrecoverable.

Ever since early man discovered sticks and fire and the wheel and Nurburgring Nordschleife, we've been hitting pause and restarting the track to make up for some terrible error. Whether it's letting a wheel slip beyond the rumble strips into a sandpit of doom, or screwing up the apex on a crucial hairpin, we've all been there, and it's always annoying, and it's always on the final lap, and we always shout, and unfortunately we can't all run away into the hills and blame it on Dietrich. So thank goodness for Race Driver: GRID, which has something called Flashback that you can use to undo catastrophic errors. In the 80-percent-complete preview build we've been pootling around for the last few days, it's exactly the sort of lifesaver you'd expect.

Baja 1000 First Impressions

300px-Truggy

THQ are producing a new racing game based on the Baja 1000 race for the Xbox 360 and PS 3, Eurogamer have a first impressions post up. For those who have not heard of the Baja 1000 before (like myself) here is the description from Wikipedia.

Baja 1000 is an off-road race that takes place on Mexico's Baja California Peninsula in the fall. The event includes various types of vehicle classes such as small and large bore motorcycles, stock VW, production vehicles, buggies, trucks, and custom fabricated race vehicles. The course has remained relatively the same over the years with the majority of events being either a point to point race from Ensenada to La Paz, or a loop race starting and finishing in Ensenada. The name of the event is misleading as the mileage varies for the type of event (loop or point to point) and has represented Kilometers in the past.

Eurogamer have posted there first impressions of this game here. You can also view a trailer for the game here.

Burnout Paradise - Review

Jeff Gerstmann; one of the best games reviewers in the industry who was unceremoniously sacked from gamespot.com last December for "unknown reasons" (use google to find out why) has this week launched a new game site www.giantbomb.com along with fellow ex-gamespot editors, Ryan Davis and Alex Navarro.

One of the first reviews on www.giantbomb.com is for Burnout Paradise. Burnout being a arcade game is not usually a game I would feature on Motorsportgaming.com but I am going to make an exception as I have it, and it is great!

Race Driver Grid First Impressions

Eurogamer.net have posted an article detailing their first impressions of Race Driver Grid the next game in the Race Driver franchise.

"On our visit to Codemasters' HQ to see the reboot of the track racing series formally known as TOCA, one other game keeps coming up in conversation. That game is Project Gotham Racing 4, and it's not just the journos bringing it up. Codies developers are generous enough to praise PGR4's beauty, its structure, its weather effects, its difficulty balancing. Watching an Aston DBR9 tear around sunlit Milan esplanades and neon-lit Shibuya alleyways - and, later, feeling a certain credible but forgiving slide in the handling, when we go hands-on - it seems that the influence of Bizarre's brilliant series runs deep and wide in GRID."

MX Vs ATV: Untamed Review

Gamespot.com have posted a review for MX Vs. ATV: Untamed awarding the game a fair 6.5. "With high-profile games such as MotorStorm and Dirt already released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the bar has been raised for recent off-road racing games. Rainbow Studios' MX vs. ATV Untamed feels a lot like previous entries in the MX vs. ATV series and, as a result, doesn't meet that same standard of quality. Nevertheless, despite its problems, Untamed manages to be a worthwhile and jam-packed off-road racing experience. " Read the full review over at Gamespot.com
